Grenache is believed to have originated in the Aragon region of Spain and was very well established in the wine growing regions throughout Europe by the 19^th Century. In addition to being widely grown in Europe, Grenache was one of the first varietals grown in Australian. In fact, the country claims some of the oldest Grenache vines in the world.
